“Now that we've chosen an image to work off of, in this lesson we're going to talk about composition. Composition refers to arranging your subject on your panel in a way that feels strong and impactful. I've created a couple of visual examples to show you what to do and what not to do. Because our painting is going to be portrait style, we are going to try to frame the subject in the panel so that its face or head is emphasized. We also want to leave a little bit of space around the outside so that it doesn't feel like it's too crowded. I usually aim for half an inch to an inch of space, but...”
