Each face is unique and the way we look at it can convey infinite nuances to us. The realist painter Adrià Llarch captures the human figure from a personal point of view in his portraits and in this online course he will teach you how to use charcoal and oil paint to capture this unrepeatable essence in your sketchbook.

You will create two portraits from a single image in your sketchbook,, using two different techniques: first, charcoal, and then oil paint.

Requirements and materials

To carry out the final project of this course, it will be helpful to have some basic knowledge of drawing and painting.

As for the materials, your teacher will explain them to you in detail in the second unit of the course, although some of the most important are: charcoal, blender, fixer, pencils, brushes, oil paints, and a sketchbook.

Adrià Llarch is a painter and teacher specializing in drawing, portraiture, and figurative painting. A graduate in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona, he has complemented his training with studies alongside masters such as Antonio López and at the Barcelona Academy of Art, where he currently teaches portraiture and figure painting.

Her work, focused on the human figure and contemporary portraiture, has been exhibited in Barcelona and other European cities, and is part of private collections and the MEAM (Museu Europeu d'Art Modern) in Barcelona. Throughout her career, she has been a finalist in important painting competitions such as Figurativas and the BMW Painting Prize.

She combines the development of her personal work with teaching, exploring classic learning methodologies and the use of the sketchbook as a tool to study from life and develop a more personal artistic vision.
