In this course, Gerard Miró from the Lo Siento Studio teaches you how to create a three-dimensional still life on paper using the papercraft technique. Learn to extract the geometry of an object and transfer it to paper in the form of a fold-out to assemble later.
The applications of this technique are endless, as it allows you to physically bring to life any object, volume lettering, packaging, and more.

Start by learning about the work and influences of the Lo Siento Studio, specialists in graphic identity.
Next, enter the pre-production phase of the piece, discovering the necessary materials to carry out papercraft works, selecting the objects to represent (Gerard uses a breakfast still life), deciding the geometry of each object, and stippling it with a marker to help you transfer the shapes to the paper.
Then transfer the geometry with a compass and draw the unfolding parts, so that later you can cut and paste the different pieces that make up the object.
Now all the objects assembled, prepare the still life on the set for shooting, and finish up by exploring some basic retouching tips in Photoshop to create the final image.

Requirements and materials
No previous knowledge is necessary to take this course, just a lot of enthusiasm and a little patience.
Regarding the materials, you need a precision cutter or scalpel, an endoscope, a compass, a metal ruler, a few different-colored markers, glue, paper, colored cardboard, and a basic photography set, as well as a computer with Photoshop installed for the final retouching.
Don't let the geometry part put you off, you use it as a reference for the shape of the object, but no knowledge of applied mathematics is necessary.

The illustrations in the ad for this course were very misleading and made it seem as though you were going to learn different styles of volumetric illustrations. This was not the case.

Excelente curso
Gerard Miró is a graphic designer and has been part of Lo Siento Studio since 2008. His work focuses on the most artisan and volumetric part of the studio and on finding solutions that allow objects or lettering pieces to be physically materialized in volume and packaging.
Although his background is as a graphic designer, he has always been interested in volume and space as a form of expression, architecture and the geometry of things, understanding how objects work, and science and technology that allow things to work.
More recently he became one of the founders of Stargate Studios MC, leading VFX projects for series like Heroes Reborn, The Walking Dead, and Fear the Walking Dead, among others. Beyond his role as a producer, his passion is the manifestation of light applied to rendering. He is obsessed with lighting in environments related to architecture and photography, and it is in this area where he has focused his greatest professional contribution.
