Kick off the course by getting to know illustrator and concept artist Alejandro Burdisio, better known as Burda. He tells you about who he is, what he does, and where his passion for drawing and illustration comes from.
Jump-start your imagination and look for inspiring reference images to build a concept for your project. Put your pencil to paper and work through a series of sketches until you've drawn all the components you want to include in your final scene. Learn the fundamentals of composition and how to arrange all those elements into a coherent piece.
Next, Burda teaches you how to group brushes by type and which ones to select based on the specific painting effect you want to emulate. Now it's time to get painting! Start with a swath of color for the background and layer in compositional elements such as vehicles, buildings, and characters. Bring it all together by adding shadows and complementary details, then finish with some color retouching.
To round out the course, Burda explains how to select the right images to put together a portfolio and shares the best sites where you can showcase it. Learn to be practical in marketing yourself and effectively convey who you are and what you do through your work.
