Next, take an in-depth look at the materials for your project—watercolors, ink, colored pencils, and precision fineliners—and discover the peculiarities of working with each one.
After building a backstory for your character, Chuma teaches you some techniques for composing a balanced artwork. Then incorporate details into your sketch and do some color tests.
Now it's time to work on your final illustration. Begin by defining the outline with your fineliner, then do a base wash using watercolor and ink before adding volume with colored pencils and adhesive tape. Finish up with some final details in ink pen. Chuma leaves you with a few tips on how to varnish your drawing to protect it for years to come.

He's illustrated covers for comics including Deadly Class, Hell Sonja, and Swamp Dogs.
