About the final project for: Expressive Watercolor Painting: Create Compelling Illustrations

Expressive Watercolor Painting: Create Compelling Illustrations

“Congratulations! You have completed this Domestika course. I hope you've enjoyed walking through my creative process. By using the ideas and guidance I have given you throughout this course, you're now free to go ahead with your own composition using all the techniques we have covered. This could mean finishing the painting you started while completing the course tasks, or you could begin a brand-new project! Either way, I strongly suggest you take the time to gather inspiration and make a unique piece of your own. Make sure to keep track of your progress with different pictures of each step. It'd be great if you could also explain the choices you've made along the way and tell me if you have any doubts. This will help me understand your creative process and guide you better if you need advice. Let's revisit the necessary steps to complete your project! Finding Inspiration Choose the reference you want to paint. You can look at the Additional Resources to see some suggestions I collected for you.

The Line Work Do some basic line work to know what will be where. This will guide you when you pick up your brush to start painting.
The First Wash Wet the paper, especially where you want the bright white spot to remain. Don't lose it!
The Midtones Dry the paper and add more layers. Keep going until you're done with the midtones.
Details and Highlights Time to add the darkest darks and connect the shapes. Add highlights and feel free to glaze if any part dries lighter.
I can't wait to see what you painted, so don't forget to share it in the forum. You can do so by clicking on "Create your project". I'll be more than happy to answer any of the questions you might have along the way! I'll try getting back to you as soon as possible. In the meantime, participate in the forum, comment on others' work, and interact with the community! See you there.”

“Here we come to the end of this course. Thank you for watching it and being part of it. I try to share with you everything I learned from other artists, from masters, and from experiences. I hope I answered most of the questions in your head. Because you're not the only one We start with those obstructions. As I said many times, I really don't care about the color. And when you guys start with colors, Always remember what Picasso said, if I don't have red, I would use blue. If you develop a mindset just thinking colors as cools and warms, at the end, you will get very confident with waterco...”
