In this lesson you will practice understanding a text in three phases: rapid eye reading, first sight reading aloud, and reading with intonation, volume and speed.

Descriptive narrative locution

Now we are going to practice descriptive narrative reading. We will try to clarify the speed and tones very well without varying the volume.

Advertising locution

Finally, we are going to practice on advertising texts, perhaps one of the most complicated to speak due to its complexity and variety. Here the speed of speech will be very important.

What Is the Locution?

Let's start with the basics! Being able to understand what the object of study is is essential. For this reason, I will explain to you my own conception of what locution is and I will talk to you about why I believe that oral expression, along with textual expression, form a fundamental part of human communication.

The Breathing

Now I will delve into a fundamental concept for phonation: breathing. I will also talk to you about different types and respiratory modes and the most convenient for the locution.

Technical Elements of Phonation

Now that you know what the locution is and you are more aware of your breathing, it is time to see the technical aspects of the phonation. In this lesson, I will take as a base the concepts of: vocalization, articulation and pronunciation.

Diction

Now that you know what vocalization, articulation, and pronunciation are, it's time to move on to another fundamental concept: diction. In this lesson, I will talk to you about what we say when we say words. I will also explain to you about the different ways of reading or interpreting and you will be able to observe that they correspond to a syntactic, semantic and grammatical order.

Types of Tone

Do you want to learn more concepts? Of course! In this lesson, I will talk to you about another very important concept: tone. I will teach you how to handle tones so that you can use them as a resource when saying something. I will also explain the different tones and explore the most convenient registers for each text.

Rhythms, Intonations and Modulations

In this lesson, you will hear how the interpretation of the same text changes according to different rhythms, intonations and modulations. I will exercise varied readings of the text so that you can notice the effects generated by the modulations and the melodic lines.

Comprehensive Reading

It is time to get fully into the text that we will develop for the project of this course. The first fundamental step will be to make a comprehensive reading, which will consist of reading, understanding and saying what the text expresses. Then, we will take into account the client's indications that are very important when interpreting a text.

Practicing the Text with Different Intentions

Once you have already read your text mentally, you have already understood it and you know what you are going to say and how you are going to do it to convince your interlocutor, you are ready to practice before recording. This practice will be the proof that you are ready!

Recording Process

Now yes, we are already in front of the microphone, ready to record! In this lesson, I'll teach you some basic shooting techniques for commercials. First, you will learn about some important elements to take into account such as the environment, external noises and the time of day to record. Also, I will teach you technical elements that you should be familiar with: the microphone, the headphones and the digital support.

Choosing the Best Shots

We have already recorded all the necessary takes! In this lesson, I will explain what criteria you should have when choosing a shot. I'll also explain why, even if there are mistakes in a shot, you shouldn't dismiss it. Then, I will take the selected ones and dump them in the same file to later upload them to a platform.

In this lesson, I will talk to you about how the continuous training of communicators is fundamental, first, so as not to stay in time and, second, because it feeds the cultural baggage that is essential for personal growth and that of those close to you.

In this lesson we will see how a take is defined, structured and what it is for, as well as the meaning of the symbols that appear in it and the differences between a retake and a revision.

Now I am going to explain in depth the method that I use when facing a take.

Keys to have a good dubbing session

Finally, in this lesson I am going to share some important aspects to take into account before and during a dubbing session.

The viewing

In this lesson I will do a live demo of this first step. For this I will use a take of the same film that I have selected for the course project.

The measurement

Measuring consists of analyzing whether the adapted script fits with the mouths of the take. You will now see the live demo of this second step; I will show you the technique that I perform for its correct execution.

The sound rehearsal

Practice makes perfect, the saying goes. In this lesson I'm going to teach you how to do several rehearsals with sound, that is, talking about the original sound of the take.

The rehearsal without sound

Now it's time to do several rehearsals without sound. It will help us to verify that we have taken the references correctly and to consolidate the execution before recording.

The recording

Finally, once we have established the take, we move on to its recording. We will wait for the approval of the dubbing director to be able to move on to the next take or repeat part or all of it.

Apply my method in a dubbing session

In this lesson I will show you how the execution of the method that you have learned during the course is put into practice in a real dubbing session.
