Erika starts off by telling you about how she created Ancestral and the work methodology within her team. Discover where she finds inspiration and go through what you will learn throughout the course.
Understand the origins of the technique with an introduction to macramé, understanding the main differences between the linear and circular technique, and the types of thread you can use to knit. Then, see how to give color to your pieces using different dyeing processes.
Get to grips with your material and learn the basic knotting techniques by creating a small tapestry, which will serve as your sample reference when you start creating your main piece.
Next, learn how to create more intricate circular knots to start creating your final project: a stool cover. Erika teaches how to create and organize your general project outline before starting to weave.
First, create the center of your spiral with a blanket stitch, then create the petals, until you reach the end of the circumference. Continue with the flat blanket knot, and knit the sides of your stool cover.
Finally, get Erika’s expert recommendations and advice to maintain your stool cover in good condition, and see other pieces that you can create by applying what you learned in the course.
