      I loved this course! I create paper portraits myself, and Connie shares some useful and creative methods and tips in this course. Although quite different from mine, I really like her style and her explanations / lessons are clear and well presented. It's not only a very helpful course, it's also very much fun.

    This course is designed for intermediate learners with some prior experience in art or fashion illustration. It builds on foundational skills and explores advanced techniques in collage, mixed media, and expressive fashion illustration.

    You’ll need basic drawing supplies, watercolor and gouache paints, papers suitable for mixed media, masking tape, tracing paper, color pencils, scissors, adhesives, and access to Photoshop for digital techniques.

    You’ll learn how to create expressive fashion illustrations using collage, mixed media, and both traditional and digital techniques. The course covers figure drawing, garment rendering, texture creation, and building layered, tactile artwork.

    Basic familiarity with Photoshop is helpful but not required. The course provides step-by-step guidance for digital collage, color adjustment, and combining reference images in Photoshop.

    Techniques include using masking tape for 3D effects, layering tracing paper for transparency, blending dry and wet media, and rendering fabric textures with ink wash and color pencil.

    You’ll learn to construct figures with cylinders, use head unit measurement systems, and refine anatomical proportions for dynamic and stylized fashion poses.
